💭 Frequently Asked Questions
1. What if I start crying, freeze up, or don’t even know what to say?
Please don't worry, this is incredibly normal, and you don’t need to have a script ready. There is no right or wrong way to be in therapy. If you feel stuck, we can just sit quietly for a moment, or I can gently guide you. The Listening Nest is a space where all of your feelings, including your silence or your tears, are completely safe and welcome.
2. How do I know if what I'm going through is 'bad enough' for counselling?
If something is weighing on your mind or making life feel heavy, it matters. You don't need to be at a complete breaking point to deserve support. Counselling isn't about comparing your struggles to anyone else's, it's simply about giving you a kind, dedicated space to process what you are carrying right now.
3. Will you judge me or think less of me for the things I share?
Never. Life can be messy, complicated, and overwhelming, and we all cope the best way we know how. My role is never to sit in judgement of you. I am here to stand beside you, listen without bias, and help you make sense of your experiences in an entirely safe, gentle environment. It’s my job NOT to judge you :)
4. What actually happens during our very first session together?
Our first session is just a gentle, low-pressure conversation to see how we get along. I offer a free initial consultation where we will chat a little bit about what has brought you here and what you hope to get out of our time together. You only ever have to share what feels comfortable to you, we move entirely at your pace and there is no commitment to sign up after the free consultation.
5. How many sessions will I need, and how long do I have to stay?
There is no set timeline because everyone’s journey is completely unique. Some people find the clarity they need in just a few weeks, while others prefer ongoing support over several months or even years. We will regularly check in together to see how you are feeling, and you are always in complete control of your own care. I offer sessions on a weekly or two weekly basis either by telephone, online video or in person. (Thurrock, Wickford, Basildon & Surrounding areas)
